ABOUT

Welcome to Childcare Network #158! I am Melissa Majewski. I have been the Director here since November 2020. Childcare has been my passion for over 30 years. I started with my Associate’s Degree as an Assistant Teacher in a Preschool Classroom at my local YMCA in Massachusetts in 1993. After that, my career included working in every classroom at the center from infants through school age. Within those years at the YMCA, I also worked in different departments while I had my two children. I was the Director of the half-day Nursery School program, Family Programming, Member Services, Child Watch, and the Creator of the Preschool Enrichment Program. I then received my bachelor’s degree at 43 years of age from the University of Massachusetts, University Without Walls, in Early Childhood Education and Administration. I knew I wanted to work in Administration of some sort. I eventually became the Family Child Care Coordinator for the YMCA. After a very fulfilling position for a few years, I moved to Wilmington, NC. I haven’t looked back. I have two wonderful adult boys. My oldest lives in CO, works in a Veterinarian office, and is in the Army Reserves. My youngest lives in MA and is working at an Air Force Base and is an Air National Guard. I enjoy relaxing by the beach or the pool with a book in my hand. My job as a Director here at Child Care Network has been one of my career goals. For me, teaching and coaching present the opportunity for my own personal growth by learning through parents, community, and most of all through the children. I look forward to being with the teachers and children each day to open my mind, heart, and spirit to the little excitement that each day brings.
